OSP Trooper Marc Boyd kicked out of Autzen Stadium after getting unruly during a Ducks game

An Oregon state trooper who was ejected from Autzen Stadium after an alleged squabble with other spectators during an Oct. 19 college football game between Oregon and Washington State has been placed on administrative leave, authorities said Wednesday.

Marc Boyd, 48, was off duty when police kicked him out of the game in connection with “a dispute involving people in the stands,” Eugene police spokeswoman Melinda McLaughlin said.

The confrontation did not escalate to a physical fight, McLaughlin said.

Boyd was ousted for becoming disorderly during the incident, but police had no information to suggest his alleged behavior resulted from alcohol use, McLaughlin said.

Boyd identified himself as a state trooper before leaving the stadium, and Eugene police subsequently notified state police officials of the incident, McLaughlin said.

Boyd has not been charged with any crime, McLaughlin said. She did not release additional details.

While not specifically discussing the Oct. 19 incident, state police Lt. Gregg Hastings said Boyd is now on paid administrative leave related to a personnel investigation centering on alleged misconduct that occurred while he was off duty.

Boyd works as a fish and wildlife officer assigned to OSP’s Springfield office. He became a state trooper in 2004, and in 2008 was named the agency’s fish and wildlife division officer of the year.

Boyd was one of 32 people ejected from the stadium during the UO-WSU game, according to statistics compiled by the university. Forty-eight spectators were ousted from Saturday’s game between the Ducks and UCLA.
