Oregon is second statewide in per capita medical marijuana patients behind Colorado

Study: 2.2 Million Medical Marijuana Patients in U.S.

There are about 2.2 million medical marijuana patients in America, according to research recently posted to TheAnswerPage.com. The physician education website sponsored by The Massachusetts Medical Society, publisher of the New England Journal of Medicine reports on August 18 that Colorado has the highest number of MMJ patients per capita, with about 21.04 patients per 1,000 state residents. Oregon is second with 14.71 patients per 1,000 state residents. California is third with 14.69.

Marijuana remains a federally illegal “schedule 1” drug considered more dangerous than heroin or cocaine. America’s 2.2 million medical cannabis patients face ongoing discrimination at their places of education, or employment as well as on the road, and in the courts.
